Education

Empowering Growth

At Torres Behavioral Health, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. We provide specialized support designed to empower both the student and the caregiver, utilizing Indiana’s ESA and HCBS Waiver programs to ensure every individual has the tools they need to thrive.

Education Support Programs

Family/Caregiver Awareness and Readiness (FCAR)

Family and Caregiver Training services provides education and support directly to the family caregiver of an individual in order to increase the confidence and stamina of the caregivers to support the individual. Education and training activities are based on the family/caregiver’s unique needs and must be specifically identified in the PCISP.

The services under Family and Caregiver Training are limited to additional services not otherwise covered under the Indiana Medicaid State Plan, including Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT), but consistent with waiver objectives of avoiding institutionalization.

Behavioral Support Services (BSS)

Developing the Foundation for Learning

Our BSS program focuses on identifying the “why” behind challenging behaviors. We work with students to develop self-regulation, social communication, and focus, creating a more successful learning environment both at home and in school.

Recreational Therapy (RETH)

Learning Through Active Engagement

RETH uses play, movement, and community-based activities to work on functional goals. Whether it’s improving motor skills, social interaction, or emotional coping, our recreational therapists make progress feel like fun.

Music Therapy (MUTH)

Harmonizing Cognitive & Social Skills

Music is a powerful tool for the brain. Our certified Music Therapists use rhythm, melody, and song to help students improve communication, memory, and sensory processing—unlocking new ways for students to express themselves and connect with the curriculum.

Educational Scholarship Account (ESA)

How does ESA help?

After an initial review of the diagnosis and IEP by the ESA team, families are given an annual budget that is placed in an online wallet. The ESA recipient can then determine how to allocate these funds based on their individual needs. After selecting services and preferred providers, families will receive invoices to be uploaded to the wallet, and funds will be dispersed to the service providers for payment.

Who is eligible to apply for an ESA?

Any student (enrolled in an approved private school or homeschooled) age 5-22 with a disability and an IEP, Service Plan, or ESA Service Plan.

Mow much financial support can ESA provide?

Families can receive up to $20k per year and siblings without a disability can receive up to $8k per year.

Are there any income restrictions for ESA?

A family of four is eligible if it remains below an annual salary of $230,880. Other income requirements can be found here.
